What do you do to get the most out of your morning shave?
Shaving is incredibly annoying. What are some tips for closer shaves, types of razors, methods of shaving etc? I personally use a foil shaver with "Lectric Shave" which currently gets closer than any razor or rotary I’ve used. The worst part is that I still feel a little roughness. What do you do to get the closest, most efficient shave possible?

1/Wet your face with warm or hot water
2/Lather your face
3/Shave down
4/Lather your face
5/Shave up
6/wash your face
As far as lather, I use a brush and Williams shaving soap. However, any can shaving soap will do.I use the double blades.Gillette is better.

take a shower first, scrub it with soap, and fuzz it up before you go to shave, but honestly right around the edge of your jaw is the hardest place to shave (if you aske me) so i dont shave there, honestly ive lost the largest amount of blood from shaving.

Personally, I can’t stand shaving, but my job somewhat demands it on a daily basis. Years ago I invested about three bucks and got a fog-free shower mirror that hangs on the shower head. I wash my hair and my face before I shave in the shower with a Gillette sensor excel, and it’s pretty much the closest shave I figure I can get. I think the moist heat opens up your pores and causes facial hair to protrude further, leading to this result. At the end of my shower, I splash a little cold water on my face to close-up my pores and reduce blood flow to the skin of my face (like aftershave without the screaming, burning, and scent which I can’t use because I work at a hospital).I find I only need to change blades every 6 or 8 weeks because my beard hair is so soft by the time I shave that it doesn’t dull the blade at all. Oh, and I never spend my morning unknowingly having an earful of shaving cream like so many other guys I see.

I’ve never found an electric razor that works as well and a blade. A regular razor works best. Try washing your face with soap and water before putting on the shaving cream. This will strip some of the oil from the hair follicles and make them easier to be cut. Leave the shaving cream on and then go and sit down for five minutes and let it soften your beard. Then shave with a sharp double blade razor with hot water. Try not to go against the grain unless you really know what your face can take.

Cut throat razor is the closest you can get, sharpen every day with a strap and be careful! Also do not shave first thing in the morning, let your skin flex a little first (eg/ wait till breakfast is over).
